Drugs giant AstraZeneca reported a 17 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to £2.3bn in the first quarter of 2010 as it increased full-year earnings targets.
The Anglo-Swedish group saw a strong performance from key drugs such as cholesterol-busting treatment Crestor.
But it warned that second half revenue comparatives would be tough after the swine flu boost last year.
