Making Credit Cards Ethical

Posted by admin

There are many different credit cards available on the market today, and many things to think about when you are choosing which one to apply for. But, as well as thinking about issues such as whether an interest free or 0% balance transfer card would be best for your needs, something else you might like to consider is the ethical credit card option.

This is an attractive option for quite a large number of people and so is something to bear in mind when making credit card applications. Probably the best example of making credit cards ethical is the charity credit card, which is a good way of donating money to charity every time you use your card. If you are someone who uses your credit card on a regular basis, this could be especially appealing as the donations build up over time and so are definitely worth making.

Charity credit cards give you up to 1% cash back on your purchases (this usually includes a Gift Aid top-up), which then accumulates over time. You can then choose which causes you would like to donate the money to, so if there is a particular charity that is close to your heart – or perhaps a local community group you’d like to help – this is a great chance to help them.

Alternatively, your credit card provider will have some causes that they like to support so if you are unsure of where to donate the money, you can make use of one of their selections.

People are increasingly aware of the need to make ethical choices if possible and the UK is well-known for its commitment to charity and good causes. So, the next time you make a credit card application, considering the ethical option of a charity card could be a really good, worthwhile move.
