End of O2 unlimited iPhone plan ‘leads to fairer pricing’
uSwitch.com acknowledged that consumers may initially be put out by the changes, but the decision could favour them in the long run.
Communications Expert Matthew Wheeler said: “O2’s ‘unlimited’ plan saw customers who went above its ‘Excessive Use’ policy charged per day for internet use.
“Today’s announcement is a move towards greater transparency of pricing.”
He added that this problem is not limited to those on the O2 network, as all mobile phone users who regularly access the internet on their handsets are likely to be affected.
This follows a European Court of Justice ruling made earlier this week, which means mobile phone users travelling in Europe will see price plans being better regulated.
However, uSwitch.com reminded people that they will not be protected if they go outside the EU.
