Welsh properties to undergo energy-efficiency makeover

At least 21 locations are to benefit from the funding, which is being made available through a new scheme called Save.

The target is to improve the energy efficiency of 6,000 properties by March next year in a bid to lower household bills and carbon emissions.

Welsh Environment Minister Jane Davidson commented: “It is truly sustainable because we will be reducing fuel costs and helping those most in need who are in fuel poverty and making local job creation and training a key part of the schemes.”

She added that the project would help Wales to meet its 3% annual emission reduction target from 2011 onwards.

Barratt Homes announced earlier this month that the new homes it builds are up to 40% more efficient than they were ten years ago.
