Jobs blow at Cheshire Building Society

Up to 250 jobs may be lost at the Cheshire Building Society, which is to close its headquarters in Macclesfield.

The shake-up comes 18 months after the long-established Cheshire was taken over by the Nationwide Building Society.

The head office in Castle Street, Macclesfield, will close within the next two years, a move the company claims will reduce duplication of work already carried out at other administrative sites across the Nationwide group.
